Democrats could shatter Utah’s all-GOP US House delegation in the 2026 midterms after a judge ruled late Monday that the state must redraw its congressional maps.
The decision is a potential a blow to Utah Republicans, who hold all four US House districts and both Senate seats. Utah’s current boundaries, drawn in 2021, favor the GOP by splitting the state’s most liberal area, Salt Lake City.
While Republicans are likely to appeal Monday’s ruling to delay or overrule the map redrawing, the decision at least raises the prospect that the all-GOP delegation is in jeopardy.
