Utah Republican Moves to Repeal Biden-Era Monument Plan

A Utah Republican Tuesday introduced a measure taking aim at the size of a decades-old 1.9-million-acre national monument in the state.

Rep. Celeste Maloy (R-Utah) filed a disapproval resolution under the Congressional Review Act to invalidate a Biden-era resource management plan that restored the boundaries of Grand Staircase-Escalante in the southern part of the state. President Donald Trump decreased the monument’s footprint during his first term to about half its original size.

The move is the latest effort from Republicans to use the CRA to gut a Biden-era resource management plan put in place by Interior’s Bureau of Land Management. ...
