Virginia Democrats Back House Map to Net Party Up to Four Seats

Democrats would potentially gain four House seats in Virginia under a congressional redistricting plan state legislators announced Thursday.

The agreement, if approved by Virginia voters, would potentially leave Republicans representing only one of the state’s 11 House districts.

Democratic legislative leaders cast the map as fulfilling a promise to voters in the state’s election in 2025 to counter President Donald Trump’s (R) efforts to shore up the GOP’s control of the House through redistricting in Republican-leaning states, such as Texas.
