Virginia lawmakers will consider prohibiting auto-play videos and endless scroll on social media platforms for young users after Gov. Glenn Youngkin late Monday recommended changes to a pending bill.
The Legislature in February passed a measure (S.B. 854) that would limit teenagers to an hour a day per social media platform unless a parent consents to boosting the time limit. The Republican governor said he approved the general purpose of the bill in a message to lawmakers but didn’t sign it. He requested they take up amendments upon reconvening April 2.
