Vought, Senate GOP at Odds Over More Partisan Spending Push

Senate Republicans and White House budget chief Russell Vought are openly clashing over the Trump administration’s push for a more partisan and combative approach to funding the federal government, a move that could complicate passing the annual spending bills and enacting more cuts.

Vought, director of the Office and Management and Budget, speaking at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast this morning, said Republicans should go it alone without Democrats to cut spending, despite appropriations bills needing 60 votes to pass in the Senate.
