Vulnerable House Incumbents Brace for 2026’s First Primaries

Several House incumbents in Texas are at risk of losing their jobs Tuesday, the first congressional primary voting of the 2026 election.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R) has been weakened by personal scandal and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) is vulnerable after antagonizing some Republicans who claim he isn’t sufficiently aligned with President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Democratic Reps. Al Green and Julie Johnson are in peril after Texas Republican legislators redrew congressional lines last summer, igniting a mid-decade redistricting arms race that’s jumbled the map of House districts in play.
