What to Know in Washington: Senate Votes Today on Stopgap Bill

The Senate will vote today on stopgap funding legislation after Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) locked in votes on amendments and final passage of the bill, Erik Wasson reports.

The latest temporary funding legislation (H.R. 2872), known as a continuing resolution, would continue government funding through early March and avoid a partial government shutdown this weekend. The House could clear the bill as soon as today, Zach C. Cohen reports.

“This CR will give Congress time to continue working on the appropriations process to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year,” Schumer (D-N.Y.) said ...
