With congressional appropriators still debating the contours of a government funding package one week out from a potential shutdown, the Trump administration is seeking extra funds for a key food aid program to keep up with surging demand from recipients.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children needs an additional $567 million in fiscal 2025, according to a document the White House sent Congress, obtained by Bloomberg Government’s Roxana Tiron.
