This isn’t the same old immigration debate.

The partial shutdown set to hit the Department of Homeland Security this weekend shows Democrats believe the politics of the issue have changed — encouraging them to dig in for a potentially long standoff.

Voters support border security and enforcement of immigration laws, public polls show, but they’re also deeply unhappy with the way President Donald Trump is going about it.
