Six House Democrats and two Republicans broke with their parties Wednesday night in the vote to end the record-setting government shutdown.
The Democrats who crossed over to support the bill, and reopen government, all come from competitive swing districts won by President Donald Trump in 2024. The two Republicans who rejected the GOP plan objected to specific provisions of the short-term spending package.
The plan passed late Wednesday, 222-209, along largely partisan lines and headed to President Donald Trump for a signature that would end the shutdown.
