For the first time since 2020, and just the second time in the last 10 years, global M&A deal volumes dropped from Q1 to Q2 in 2024.
Global deal counts also dropped between Q1 and Q2 for the first time since 2020 and for just the third time in the last 10 years (this also happened in 2017). And while global M&A deal counts for Q1 (12,317) and Q2 (12,157) fell within the middle of the pack for all quarters since 2014, the deal volumes for Q1 ($740 billion) and Q2 ($729.6 billion) were among the 10 lowest.
