Coinbase Resumes Trading After Seven-Hour Exchange Outage

Crypto exchange Coinbase Global Inc. said trading services had resumed after a significant outage left customers unable to transact on its platform for almost seven hours on Friday, rounding off a difficult week at the company.

The New York-based firm said overheating at an Amazon Web Services data center in Northern Virginia had disrupted systems used by Coinbase, leading to all transactions being suspended for a period of time. The company first flagged the issue at about 9 a.m. in Singapore on Friday, and activity later resumed by around 4 p.m.
