Companies convicted of felonies or misdemeanors in California would have to pay an additional fine of up to $100,000 and face a penalty worth potentially millions of dollars under legislation cleared by the state Assembly on Tuesday.
The bill (AB 2432) would create two new penalties for companies. Courts would be required to impose an additional fine of up to $100,000 for any company convicted of a felony, or up to $1,000 in misdemeanor cases.
