Kirkland & Ellis is expanding its Nashville office by hiring the Tennessee Solicitor General Matthew Rice.
A former professional baseball player and Williams & Connolly lawyer, Rice joined the solicitor general’s office in 2022 before being promoted to the state’s top appellate advocate in 2024.
He argued in the US Supreme Court to successfully defend a Tennessee state law banning some transgender medical treatments for minors, a ruling made last year.
