Ask a Big Law leader what defines success for the firm, and money is never the answer. At least not on the record.
It’s some combination of agility, innovation, creativity, and strategic growth. That leader will talk about the quality of the practice groups, whether the firm can hire the talent aligned with its business goals, and whether those people actually like their job and feel like they fit in with the culture.
In short, the answer is full of answers. Next to nothing is easily quantified. One leader’s KPI isn’t necessarily the mark of success for another.
