A Michigan attorney who represented a patient in a medical malpractice lawsuit against Ascension Providence Hospital will be sanctioned for citing legal precedent hallucinated by artificial intelligence, a state appellate court said.
In addition to failing to get his client a new trial, attorney Ronnie E. Cromer Jr. will be charged actual damages and expenses that are to be determined by the trial court, the Michigan Court of Appeals said in a Wednesday opinion.
