The ghost of last February’s California Bar exam, which was marred by software crashes and revelations that a contractor used ChatGPT to write some questions, is giving some state leaders decision paralysis.
California Bar leaders needed to decide Friday on the high-level form the state’s next exam could take starting in July 2028. Instead, they selected two options to research more: possibly using the national bar’s new NextGen exam, or using questions developed by a contractor for last February’s test.
