A Los Angeles federal judge ruled last night that US agents may wear masks while doing official duties, partially blocking for now California laws passed in response to last summer’s immigration raids.
The mask ban likely unlawfully discriminates against federal officers because it doesn’t apply to state police, Judge Christina Snyder said. She found other identification provisions in the two new state laws — California’s No Secret Police Act (SB 627) and No Vigilantes Act (SB 805) — were likely lawful.
