9th Cir. Hears Sanctuary City Grant Suit
“Here we go again.” That was the reaction of California Federal Judge William Orrick when he temporarily blocked the Trump administration in April from rescinding grants to certain immigrant sanctuary cities, just like he ruled in a nearly identical case in 2017.
Today the US Justice Department will urge the Ninth Circuit to overturn Orrick’s order and find that it’s constitutional for the federal government to mandate San Francisco and other localities cooperate with immigration enforcement efforts.
