Private market firm Bain Capital and Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. are joining forces for a new European loan platform targeting corporate borrowers in Europe and UK.
The platform, which will lend as much as €1.5 billion ($1.75 billion), brings together SMBC’s leveraged finance origination capabilities with Bain’s special situations and credit businesses, according to a statement reviewed by Bloomberg News. It will focus on opportunities in the broadly syndicated loan markets and target financing for sponsor-backed companies.
Both Bain and SMBC have governance rights in the vehicle.
