Bessent Rejects Worries Over Dollar Drop Diminishing Global Role

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent dismissed the idea that the dollar’s recent declines raise concerns about its status as the world’s key currency.

“The price of the dollar has nothing to do with a strong dollar policy,” Bessent said in an interview with Bloomberg Television Thursday. “The strong dollar policy is, are we doing the things over the long term to ensure that the US dollar remains the reserve currency of the world,” he said, arguing that the Trump administration was indeed taking such steps.
