American Airlines Group Inc.’s request to block the city of Chicago from awarding rival United Airlines Holdings Inc. valuable gate space at Chicago O’Hare International Airport has been rejected, according to a Cook County Circuit Court ruling.
The decision on the contested airport gate access came Thursday, nearly five months after American filed suit to stop its rivals’ expansion. O’Hare is a hub for both airlines, making it the only dual-hub facility in the US. American has claimed United wants to elbow it out so it can become the “sole hub carrier” at the airport.
