A large group of New York City sanitation workers have agreed to settle their wage claims against the city for $4.3 million, and are asking a federal district judge to approve the deal.
The parties say the proposed settlement, which would include a permanent dismissal of the claims, is a “fair and reasonable” resolution in part because the amount the workers obtained equals about 28% of the damages Plaintiffs could potentially win if they convinced a jury or the judge of their claims, according to a letter from the workers’ lawyers to Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil of the US District ...
