TikTok Consumers Win Final Order Advancing Kids’ Privacy Claims

TikTok Inc. must face most claims of a proposed class action alleging it collected and used children’s data without parental consent in violation of state privacy laws.

Judge George H. Wu of the US District Court for the Central District of California issued an order Nov. 6 denying TikTok’s motion to dismiss claims of intrusion upon seclusion, negligence, unjust enrichment, invasion of privacy under the California Constitution, and violations of the New York Civil Rights Law and the unfair-competition statutes of seven states.
