The Energy Department wouldn’t be able to regulate energy efficiency standards for manufactured homes under H.R. 5184.

The bill also would nullify energy conservation standards for manufactured housing finalized by the department in May 2022 and not yet in effect, which the bill’s supporters said would raise the purchase price of the homes.

Instead of issuing its own standards, the Energy Department could submit recommendations to the Housing and Urban Development Department for HUD’s manufactured home safety and construction standards.
