New York City will now require construction workers to undergo safety trainings on mental health and alcohol substance abuse, following a push from one of the city’s largest contractors.
The new lawbuilds on an existing statute that requires workers on construction sites to have a site safety training cards. New York City law requires certain employers in construction and other industries to give their employees at least 40 hours of training to earn a site safety training card. The recently enacted law adds mental health training to those requirements.
