The European Commission will propose exemptions for small- and medium-sized companies from some of its tax laws, a senior commission official said Thursday.
The commission will keep SMEs out of the EU’s Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive’s provisions on controlled foreign companies, according to Benjamin Angel, the commission’s head of direct tax. It will also exempt SMEs and third-party loans from the interest limitation rule, which is meant to curb the amount a company can claim in deductions.
