Ukraine to Move Forward With Contentious Tax Bill Sought by IMF

Ukrainian authorities are pressing ahead with a tax on self-employed entrepreneurs, one of the most contentious policies demanded by the International Monetary Fund to unlock more than $8 billion in wartime financing.

The Finance Ministry plans to finalize a draft bill this week that seeks to impose a value-added tax on revenue tied to a broadly used self-employment status as well as broaden the category of foreign parcels subject to a levy.

“We expect this to happen by the end of this week after we receive approval from all the relevant government agencies,” ministry spokesman Dmytro Gerasymenya told Bloomberg News ...
