An Ohio federal court ruled for a former fire chief of Cincinnati, who sued the city and city manager after being fired without a pretermination hearing, alleging violations of federal and state due process rights, and defamation, where he had a property interest in employment, protected by due process, as he could only be terminated “for cause” after six months of service, he wasn’t given notice or opportunity to respond, and whether a city manager’s statements were malicious is disputed.
