An attempt by House Democrats to require EEOC funding be used for forms that collect employee demographic information from employers failed after gaining no support from Republicans.
Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.) introduced the amendment during a Wednesday markup on the bill funding the departments of Commerce and Justice for fiscal year 2027.
Her amendment would’ve ensured that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s funding, which is part of the appropriations package, wouldn’t be used to eliminate collection of EEO-1 forms, which are used to evaluate racial and gender diversity at companies with 100 or more employees.
