House Democrats are pressing the US Labor Department to fully staff the Women’s Bureau and investigate an exodus of women from the labor force.
In a letterto Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer and acting Women’s Bureau leadership Tuesday, the Democratic Women’s Caucus urged the agency to probe why more than 330,000 women have left the workforce since January.
“We are disappointed to see that the DOL has not taken any actions to investigate this further or help women in this difficult position,” the letter led by Reps. Hillary Scholten (D-Mich.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio) said.
