An appeals court panel rejected the Department of Homeland Security’s emergency request to halt a lower court order maintaining temporary protections for half a million immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
The immigrants entered the US through a Biden administration humanitarian parole program known as “CHNV.”
The Trump administration sought an emergency stay from the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in April to pause Judge Indira Talwani’s order preserving parole protections while litigation over the Biden-era program is ongoing.
