An order that bars Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing information held by the US Department of Education will remain in place pending the government’s appeal.
The government’s arguments in favor of a stay are “stale,” Judge Judge Deborah L. Boardman said in a March 28 order. The US District Court for the District of Maryland March 24 issued a preliminary injunction that blocked the sharing of information, and the government sought a stay pending its appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
