DOL Letters Address Joint-Employer Liability, Emergency Pay

The US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division issued four interpretation letters under the Fair Labor Standards Act as part of its efforts to provide compliance advice to employers.

The opinion letters give insight into the Trump administration’s view of joint employment arrangements, emergency pay for public employees, tip pooling for restaurant workers, and wage and hour calculations under the Family and Medical Leave Act for correctional law enforcement.
