An Illinois-led coalition of states backed bakery distribution drivers in a US Supreme Court fight over whether there’s a transportation-industry requirement for workers hoping to use an arbitration exemption to keep wage claims in court.
Adopting the requirement that people doing transportation work must also show their employer is in the transportation industry would interfere with the states’ interest in “public and transparent proceedings,” according to the friend-of-the-court brief filed Monday.
