Former foreign service employees of the US Agency for International Development sued the Trump administration Wednesday, saying their terminations were politically motivated.
The 29 workers say their terminations in the summer and fall of 2025, “loosely disguised” as part of a reduction in force, violated their First Amendment rights protecting them from being fired based on their perceived political affiliation as Democrats. They cite comments from President Donald Trump that the agency is “run by a bunch of radical lunatics, and we’re getting them out” and other administration officials who said USAID is “anti-American.”
