Republican attorneys general in 13 states are warning the country’s largest employers against using race-based preferences in hiring, promotions, and contracting, pointing to a recent US Supreme Court decision curtailing the use of race as a factor in college admissions.
Businesses with race-based initiatives designed to achieve a diverse workforce are running afoul of both federal and state anti-discrimination laws “and will face serious legal consequences,” the attorneys said in a letter sent Thursday to the CEOs of Fortune 100 companies.
