House Panel Passes Bill to Raise Bar for Benefit Plan Suits (1)

A bill that would make it harder for workers to sue companies over their benefits plans under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act passed through the House Education and Workforce Committee.

The panel voted 19-13 on Tuesday on party lines to advance the ERISA Litigation Reform Act, introduced by Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.), as part of a larger bill package. It now faces a vote in the full chamber.
