A legal services nonprofit ended Friday its lawsuit seeking to avoid being prosecuted by Louisiana’s attorney general for offering legal rights training to immigrant communities amid the Trump administration’s New Orleans-centered immigrant crackdown.
Immigration Services and Legal Advocacy voluntarily dismissed its suit against Louisiana AG Elizibeth Murrill after conceding the law it’s challenging won’t apply to their Know Your Rights presentations and trainings. The dismissal comes just two days after the group sued Murrill and other state law enforcement officials and moved for an emergency temporary restraining order.
