A Manhattan federal judge invalidated the Trump administration’s decision to effectively eliminate mediation services for many labor disputes, deeming it illegal.
Judge Arun Subramanian of the Southern District of New York granted summary judgment Tuesday to a coalition of labor unions challenging the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service’s implementation of a March 2025 executive order that aimed to dismantle several small agencies.
The ruling comes after a federal court in Rhode Island struck down that EO in November, finding that President Donald Trump overstepped his authority.
