Justices Skip Precision Drilling’s Donning, Doffing Pay Dispute

An oil and gas company that says it shouldn’t have to pay workers for time spent donning and doffing generic safety gear failed to convince the US Supreme Court on Monday to consider its case.

Precision Drilling Corp. urged the justices to weigh in on its argument that the Fair Labor Standards Act doesn’t require it to compensate workers for the time it takes them to put on and remove safety equipment that doesn’t “protect against job-specific hazards that transcend ordinary risks.”
