Los Angeles police appear to be targeting journalists covering protests with physical force, a federal judge ruled, ordering them to cease the practice and implement further training on the heels of a similar ruling for federal officers in the same case.
The June protests mark “the latest chapter in a long and unfortunate saga” of the Los Angeles Police Department using unlawful force against journalists covering protests, Judge Hernan D. Vera wrote in a Thursday preliminary injunction order in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
