A boutique law operation is taking advantage of an unusual Washington, DC regulation to bring aboard a prominent data scientist as firm partner to provide one-stop shopping for corporate clients anxious to both gauge AI risk and fix any underlying issues.

The co-founder of Luminos.Law, Andrew Burt, is welcoming Ellie Graeden, a data science business founder and a professor with the Georgetown University Center for Global Health Science and Security as partner. The District of Columbia is one of a handful of US jurisdictions that allow non-lawyers to be owners in legal operations.
