MTA, LIRR Unions Reach Potential Agreement to End Strike (2)

New York City’s transit system and Long Island Rail Road workers reached a potential labor agreement, ending a historic strike that suspended service on the largest commuter line in the US.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, a state agency that oversees the city’s subway, bus and commuter rail lines, reached a tentative deal with five unions on wage increases, Governor Kathy Hochul late Monday posted on X before announcing the agreement at MTA headquarters.
