The incoming United Steelworkers president wants to reset the union’s stance on Nippon Steel Corp., signaling a break from her predecessor’s opposition to the Japanese company’s takeover of US Steel ahead of contract negotiations this year.
Roxanne Brown — who on Sunday is set to be sworn in as the first woman and person of color to lead the 850,000-member union — will head to the bargaining table with Nippon Steel this summer in a bid to secure job protections and investment commitments from the new owners.
