Ninth Circuit Denies Rehearing on Venezuelan Migrant Protections

The Department of Homeland Security’s move to axe deportation protections for Venezuelan and Haitian immigrants won’t be reheard by a federal appellate court.

US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit judges on Wednesday denied en banc review for a Jan. 29 ruling that DHS unlawfully terminated Temporary Protected Status for Venezuela and Haiti. The agency sought a rehearing by the full Ninth Circuit after a three-judge panel found that the terminations violated the Immigration and Nationality Act.
