The federal government’s private-sector pension insurer is relaunching its opinion letter program to provide guidance in response to public inquiries about how it would apply the law in individual cases.
The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation said Tuesday it would resume using the letters through its Office of the General Counsel. The public can submit questions about how PBGC would apply provisions in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act in particular circumstances.
