A Pennsylvania principal must face the civil rights claims filed by the mother of a transgender student who committed suicide after being bullied at school, a federal court said.

Richard Rava failed to show that qualified immunity protected him from Sa’Raya Harden’s claim for sex-based discrimination in violation of the equal protection clause, Magistrate Judge Susan E. Schwab said Monday for the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
