The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration renewed a nationwide program that conducts inspections of manufacturing facilities.
The National Emphasis Program on Amputations in Manufacturing Industries aims to find and reduce hazards that could lead to amputations and injuries in the manufacturing sector. Under the renewed program, OSHA will conduct inspections of companies using machinery that poses risk of amputation to ensure compliance of safety practices, like whether its properly guarded.
