Virginia is poised to expand the paid time off obligations for private-sector employers, under a batch of bills that have won approval in the state House and Senate.
Lawmakers finished passing two pairs of companion bills Tuesday providing for paid sick time and paid family and medical leave along narrow party-line votes. The two chambers passed largely similar requirements but need to resolve language differences in their bills before sending them to Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D).
The measures are part of a long list of Democratic-backed workplace policies teed up for likely passage this year after Spanberger’s election in November. ...
